Have you ever had that terrifying moment where you realise your life has gone in the totally opposite direction to where it was supposed to?
You’re completely off track.
In fact you realise that somewhere in your 20’s you took a wrong turn and now you’re running low on fuel, your inner GPS died years ago, you’ve just been recklessly swerving your way through life, missing opportunity after opportunity.
(Did I slightly over-do it on the driving puns?)
Well, that was me back in December 2018. At 32 years old, I found myself feeling anxious most days, totally lost and alone, and like I’d somehow missed the signs to stop and bag a husband, a mortgage and a baby.
And I was only making things worse using social media as a ‘fun’ distraction, but really using it to fuel my self-hatred by comparing my life to everyone else’s. No wonder I’d taken a wrong turn; I hadn’t been navigating my own life because I was too busy peering into everyone else’s, wondering why I didn’t have what they all had – the house, the hubby, the kids, the puppy!
So there I was, December 2018, feeling very much done with this journey we call life. I felt like I should just turn off the ignition and be done with it all.
Fortunately, I didn’t. A little voice in my head – and an emergency phone call to the ambulance services – told me not to give up, but instead to get up and wake up.
It told me to turn around and make some changes.
Because that’s what we must do if we take a wrong turn in life. Reverse a little, and take a different road – or 7 different roads.
Ever been driving somewhere, got lost, and ended up stumbling upon something beautiful?
That is literally what happened to my life once I backed up and made some changes, changes that lead to an incredible transformation.
Two years on from making those changes and my transformation has had the most incredible results. I love the life I live. I’ve travelled, I lived in Bali and I am now an entrepreneur running my own coaching business.

Are you ready to transform?
Here are 7 easy ways to transform your life you can start making today that will help you have your own transformation:
Ask for help
The first thing I did was ask for help – off my family, off my friends and even off my GP. He actually officially diagnosed me with depression and that alone allowed me to understand myself a little more and begin seeing a therapist. This combination of professional help mixed with the support from my loved ones was fundamental to feeling confident enough to make the rest of my transformation.
Start Exercising
Physical activity can play a huge factor in a personal or emotional transformation. Even just 10-15 minutes of brisk walking can increase our mental alertness, our energy and kickstart a positive mood. I immediately started running a few times a week and even joined a running club.
Begin Affirmations
Unsure of affirmations? Trust me, I was too. Talking to yourself in front of a mirror can (and will) seem pretty damn weird at first. But they can also be life-changing. Once I understood affirmations, I was able to create a list of positive affirmations that helped with my anxiety and mental well-being. My main affirmation that I told myself every day for three months was:
I AM BEAUTIFUL. I AM STRONG. I AM RESPECTED.

Begin a Gratitude Practice
I often tell my clients that I owe everything I currently have to this simple practice that I introduced into my life in January 2019. That’s when I started a gratitude jar; making sure to pop little gratitude notes into my jar everyday.
Expressing gratitude everyday became a habit, and in doing so, it completely lifted my vibration, my mood, and I was able to feel a huge energy shift within me; one that helped me to always be grateful and see the positives.

Switch Entertainment for Education
Now, I’m not saying you need to cancel your Netflix subscription and only watch The Discovery Channel, but I did do a little bit of a switch-a-roo that helped MASSIVELY with my personal transformation.
Instead of sitting down to binge on Netflix, I would instead binge on a positive or insightful podcast. Instead of eating my dinner with Friends repeats blurring away in the background, I would stick on a thought-provoking TedTalk on Youtube.
I decided to spend less time scrolling and more time reading and ordered a load of self-help books to my kindle. I wanted to remove distractions and opportunities for self-comparison and replace them with media that motivated me.
It worked a treat!
Try Sobriety
Now this may not apply to all, but personally, I knew that alcohol was a mood dampener for me and was the root cause of my lack of productivity. So I gave up alcohol for 30 days straight and saw AMAZING results.
With my new free time, I poured my heart and soul into my job. I also started listing brand new goals and aspirations. and created a vision board.
I started facing fears and doing things that scared me instead of spending my weekends hungover and under my duvet.

Start a New Hobby or Project
Start a blog or a youtube channel documenting your transformation journey. Or perhaps take up a new hobby or skill such as photography or knitting or even cooking. Find something that delights your mind and just go with it.
Create a Morning Ritual
Having a solid morning routine in place – although I prefer the term ritual – is a must if you want to see REAL results from your transformation. Star that first hour of the day in the right way and the rest of the day will be spectacular. If you need some help putting together a morning ritual (or even just getting up) I can’t recommend Miracle Morning enough. Written by Hal Elrod, he shares his whys and his hows of his miracle morning routine.

FYI, you don’t need to implement all these changes at once. Plan them one step, one week or even one month at a time. This is a transformation, not an overnight fix. Trying to fix everything at once is the surest way to f***ing it up and ending up back in square one.
Small steps okay? Have patience and enjoy it.
