Life is waaaaaay too short to spend it being unhappy
Unknown
We all want to be happy, right? To live live to the fullest. But in my 18 months since entering the world of coaching, I’ve discovered that so many of us, women especially, are only ever really living our life at 50%/60%. We spend so much of our time fearing judgment, failure, and more. And whilst it’s easy enough to say ‘live your BEST life’, unfortunately we aren’t equipped with a ‘best life’ switch that we can just flip and boom, we’re peaking at 100%. However, you can make changes to your life that will boost your happiness, aslong as you’re willing to really give them a go.
Quit these five things today and you will no doubt see your happiness levels rise.
QUIT: Telling yourself “it’s too late”
Trust me, regardless of your age, it’s NEVER too late to go after what you want. You would be astounded by the number of women I see that are in jobs they hate or unhappy relationships, but decide not to do anything about it because “oh it’s too late now”
Ok sure Karen, it’s only the next 10, 20, 30, 40 years of life, why bother??
*face palm*
Don’t settle for being unhappy. Don’t settle for that mediocre life when you know deep down you not only desire so much more, but you deserve it.
QUIT: Regretting your mistakes
Your mistakes are such important parts of your self-discovery journey. Whilst it can be difficult to understand at that time, one day you will be appreciative that something you regret now actually didn’t work out the way you wanted. I count my blessings for the PA job I got fired from at 22. Fresh out of Uni I fell like a failure for losing that position. But every mistake I made in that job was a learning experience preparing for my next job, which was a shit hot job working for a TV network.
Next time a mistake happens, try to accept that you cannot change it, and instead learn from it. Be grateful for the lesson you are being taught by the Universe.
QUIT: Making decisions based on what others think of you
I’ve been speaking to a lot of women recently for market research purposes, and we all seem to have two common fears:
- Disappointing our parents
- Being judged by our peers
Yup, I get it. I’ve had those two fears as well. But what I have come to realize is that:
- As much as we love our parents, this is OUR life, not theirs, and we can’t spend our entire lives being unhappy and unfulfilled to make them happy? Would they actually be happy if they knew you were unhappy? It’s a vicious circle of people-pleasing
- Some people will judge you. Some people will laugh at you. Some people will not give a rats-arse what the hell you do. These things will happen whether you choose to live a boring mediocre life or whether you chase your dreams. So why not choose the latter??
QUIT: Using internal negative language
Such as “I can’t.. I wish… but I’ll never…”
*sighs*
By using this language you’re manifesting no’s, can’ts and big fat blocks for yourself. Your reality is created 100% by you. So by saying “I can’t.. I wish… but I’ll never…” that is exactly what you’re creating for yourself.
It’s “I can… I am…” and “I will…” and when teaching The Butterfly Strategy, that is exactly what I try and teach my clients – positive language!
QUIT: Surrounding yourself with the wrong people
Your tribe should be high vibe; they should lift you up, not bring you down! I’m a huge believer in the power of energy and if you are hanging around people who are negative, who drain your energy, this will have a HUGE effect on your own energy. Your tribe should be your cheerleaders, cheering you on through whatever crazy-ass dream it is that you have. If you find they can’t it’s time to find a new tribe.
READ: Are your tribe the REAL reason you keep failing??
It was around 18 months ago now that I began implementing these changes into my life. I ditched negativity and chose positivity. I stuck two fingers up to what other people thought of me. I decided to quit my 9-5 and chase the dream that others told me was crazy. No more regretting my past and worrying about my future.
The result?
- A remote career I love as The Butterfly Coach
- A sense of home & purpose in Bali
- My own coaching program – The Butterfly Strategy – which I’m so proud of
- A tribe of women who support me
- PLUS so much self-love, self-confidence and self-respect!
Will you make these changes starting today?
