How to Make Friends with Your Higher Self?

How to connect with your Higher Self

If you Google The Higher Self you will be told that: this is a term associated with multiple belief systems, but it describes an eternal, conscious and intelligent being who is ones real self.

Everyone has different ways of viewing the Higher Self. Some people view their Higher Self as their soul, their spirit guide, others view it as their future self, themselves in five or ten years, or the 2.0 version of themselves. Others describe the Higher Self as an extension of themselves that is also part of the Source —the ultimate higher power, the universal source of cosmic energy.

Me? I guess I kinda believe all the above rolled into one. I believe my Higher Self to be a spiritual part of me, living within my soul, who is here to guide me to the best outcomes, the best future – sometimes I picture her as a bright light guiding me down a path, making sure I can always see where I’m doing.

But other times (usually when she comes to me in a meditation) I envision her as me, but the absolute BEST version of me – killer body, dressed in the best outfit, hair wavy, thick and flowing, and a big bright gleaming smile. She oozes confidence, is always laughing, but has a soothing, peaceful and calm aura about her. She is never stressed, she loves all and she is also just really freakin’ cool. Quite often in my meditation she gives me hugs and tells me i’m on the right path.

How do you define your Higher Self?

Do you have a relationship with her?

Here are some tips on how you can start connecting with your Higher Self:

Journal to her

Write letters to her, express gratitude to her, declare your goals and desires to her. Sometimes you can even ask her questions or ask her for signs and see if anything unfolds over the days following. Try journaling on or asking questions such as:

  1. How do I feel about myself right now?
  2. How do I want to feel about myself?
  3. What does my dream life look like?
  4. What is my most memorable dream?
  5. What are my core values in life?

Pull cards with her

Asking my Higher Self questions and pulling cards for answers and guidance, has most certainly helped me to build a stronger connection with her. By simply holding the cards to my heart and asking for help, I felt I was beginning to see patterns in the cards I was pulling out. No joke, when I first started pulling with this particular deck, despite their being over 40 individual cards in this pack, I pulled the same card out four times in a row across the space of ten days. Coincidence? Nope. I believe it was my higher self trying to get a clear message to me.

I recommend the Rebecca Campbell Lightworker Oracle Cards, as soon as I saw these stunning cards, I fell inlove with them.

Meditate for connection

I used to find meditating so difficult, but with enough practice and now that I understand it, I’ve fallen inlove with it.

Being in a meditative state – aka when our beta brain waves completely chill the f*** out – we go into complete relaxation that allows us to open chakras, explore astral projection, and have spiritual experiences.

Whilst I use meditation in various different ways – sometimes to cleanse my chakras, sometimes to calm my inner critic and hush the self-doubt – one way I use meditation is to connect to my Higher Self and I often use guided meditations for this. Check out this powerful guided meditation below that I’ve used several times to hang out with my Higher Self.

I’d love to find out how you get on connecting to your Higher Self and hear all about what specifically helped you to connect. Let me know in the comments below or hit me up on instagram.
