How to use Pinterest to Grow your Coaching Business

Pinterest for Coaches

Suffering from Instagram burnout? Tired of posting but not getting the leads or clients you deserve?

I can relate. But did you know that Instagram isn’t the only way to attract soulmate clients for your service-based business? Neither is TikTok, or Facebook.

As a coach or spiritual service provider, you can use Pinterest to grow your business and attract new coaching clients.

Yes, Pinterest for coaches – it works, trust me!

If you’re looking for a new way to market your coaching or spiritual services, you should consider using Pinterest. This amazing platform completely transformed my business, not only with increasing web traffic and therefore more leads, but Pinterest also helped my business to start ranking on Google, which is huge for authority building in the coaching industry.

By creating pins and idea pins that showcase your coaching services and by sharing them on the right boards, you can reach a wide audience of potential new clients.

What is Pinterest? And how do people use it?

Pinterest is more than a social media platform, it’s a visual search engine!

There are currently over 430 million users on Pinterest and unlike other platforms, users aren’t going on there to mindlessly scroll through other people’s lives or watch funny videos. Users go on Pinterest to find a solution to their problems.

In the same way that you might go on google maps to find a location, or YouTube to find a tutorial, Pinners go on Pinterest to find answers to their solutions and inspiration for their life, such as:

  • A newly engaged couple who are getting married might create a board called ‘Wedding Inspo’ and pin content they like for their wedding. The types of brands & companies who would benefit from this would be wedding venues, wedding gown brands, wedding planners & stylists etc.
  • A homeowner who is planning to redecorate her Kitchen could create a board called ‘Kitchen Sink Ideas’ and pin images of kitchen sinks, tiles & taps they like. They may find them via Pinterest home influencers or kitchen brands.
  • A make-up artist might create a board called ‘Halloween Looks’ and add inspiring make-up looks that are halloween themed, she may find these ideas from make-up brands or she could create her own pins that drive traffic to her site where people can book her services.

But what about coaches or spiritual services? How would you benefit from pinning?

Pinterest for coaches

A proven Pinterest strategy for life coaches and spiritual entrepreneurs

It’s not just new kitchen sinks and wedding venues that people are scouring Pinterest for. Users go on Pinterest for solutions and ideas. That includes solutions and ideas on tackling emotional, mental and life problems too.

As life coaches and spiritual entrepreneurs, we love to help people find answers to their problems, it’s just a matter of finding and connecting with those people. Your website (assuming you have a blog, if not, I highly recommend you start one) can be a great place to share answers, tips and tools with your audience, and then you can use Pinterest to present these answers to the public.

Ideally, you would write a blog post that has been created to answer a question or problem your soulmate client might be having, such as: ‘How do I get over my ex?’ or ‘How to find my life purpose?’ You then use Pinterest to direct traffic to the blog post.

Within this blog post you would have a Call to Action (CTA) or a lead magnet so that this person can become a member of your community and you can nurture them to convert into a wonderful soulmate client.

The benefits of using Pinterest for your service-based business

There are so many reasons this platform will work for you.

For starters, using Pinterest for coaches and spiritual entrepreneurs will still be nowhere near as competitive as using the likes of Instagram or Facebook.

But it goes beyond that. Here are the key benefits:

1. Reach a wider audience. With over 430 million active users, Pinterest should not be dismissed as a platform to promote your services. Again, Pinterest is much more than a social media platform, it’s a visual search engine, with the added benefit that in the coaching & spirituality niche it’s less competitive than Google or Instagram to be discovered on.

2. Drive traffic to your website. Pinterest is one of the best ways to drive traffic to your website or blog. When you create pins that link back to your site, people who click on the pin will be directed straight to your webpage. This is not something that Instagram offers, and even when you post a link in your story, IG users don’t like to leave the app, whereas Pinterest is designed to direct users to external sources.

3. Generate leads. You can use pins to direct traffic to a lead magnet, such as a free ebook or a free masterclass, helping you add more potential clients & customers into your email community.

4. Sell products and services. If you sell products or services related to coaching, you can use Pinterest to promote and sell them. You can create product pins and rich pins that link directly to your product or service, or get creative with idea pins to sell your services.

My amazing results from using Pinterest for my business:

  1. Freedom: Pinterest is a time-saver compared to other social media platforms. I’ve faced Instagram burnout, struggling with its ever-changing algorithms. But Pinterest is straightforward, designed to help us promote our services through a creative, user-friendly interface.
  2. Consistent Sales: My digital products now sell regularly, making low-ticket sales a reliable part of my income.
  3. High-Value Clients: Pinterest brings in more high-ticket clients than any other platform. Alongside Google, it’s the main way clients discover me.
  4. Top Google Rankings: My Pinterest strategy has helped me reach the top of Google search results in many of my niche categories.
  5. Authority Boost: Pinterest has significantly enhanced my online presence, positioning me as an authority in my industry.
  6. Viral Posts: I’ve had multiple Pinterest posts go viral, even with a small following. The first time one of my posts generated thousands of views, I had just 300 followers.
  7. Extra Income: Promoting blog posts with affiliate links on Pinterest has added a valuable income stream to my business.
  8. Fun and Free: Pinterest is not just effective; it’s also fun and free to use!

How to create pins that will sell your coaching services

First, let’s talk about what you’re pinning to. Unlike an Instagram post, your pin can link to an external site or resource. So if you have a blog – fantastic! If you don’t, I highly suggest you create one.

Just pinning links to your website homepage won’t be enough to attract and convert your soulmate clients.

Reminder: Your soulmate clients aren’t looking for you, they’re looking for solutions to their problems. So before you go pinning hundreds of pins that link to your homepage, you will first want to create some blog content around the issues your soulmate client is facing.

Let’s say I’m a Life Coach specifically helping new mums. I might create a post called “How to find yourself again after the birth of your baby.” This then becomes the perfect content to create pins for on Pinterest.

Here are my 3 top tips for creating pins on Pinterest

1. Use your keywords. When creating your pins (and when creating the blog post for that matter) be sure to use keywords that you believe your soulmate clients will be searching for.  This is one of the most important parts of creating content, so don’t skip this step.

I use Keysearch to do all my keyword research – it’s amazing, I don’t know what I would do without this tool. It makes finding keywords really easy and helps me choose long-tail keywords that aren’t too competitive. Click here to try it out and make sure to use KSDISC at checkout for 20% off.

2. Use high-quality images. This will help your pins stand out from the rest and catch people’s attention. I like to use Canva to create all my pins; they have an entire library with thousands of free images to use.

3. Diversify your pins. Don’t use a one-size-fits-all template. Play around with styles, colours, different font and even different titles. This is a great way to attract people’s attention and get them interested in your coaching business. Check out what other pinners are doing in your niche and see what styles are popular. Don’t copy though, just see what type of style is trending and popular.

How to get the best results on Pinterest:

The Pinterest for coaches strategy I’ve created, used by both me and my clients, is primarily focused on two things:

Patience

In a world where we’re all obsessed with instant results, going viral and quick fixes, it may be an odd request to ask you to be patient, however, Pinterest can be a slow burner. That does not mean that you won’t see results, it just means you need to be patient. And as long as you are consistent, you will get the results.

Consistency

Pin regularly. This is so, so, so important. Many people think you just do a few pins for your new post and then wait for the traffic to flow in. But in order to get regular traffic to your website you need to be pinning regularly.

I recommend creating some kind of pinning schedule, or alternatively use a third-party automated pinner like Tailwind; I use this service because they are partnered with Pinterest so I know it’s a reliable platform; it also means I can schedule up to 1000 pins a month, without having to manually upload them all one by one.

The importance of using group boards on Pinterest

Group boards are very popular because they help get your pins in front of more audiences. Pinterest group boards are boards you create and then add other users into OR they’re created by others and then you request to join. Your pins are exposed to all the followers of the users on the group board.

Alongside making sure you have the right keywords, I’d say having the right group boards to join is also imperative to the success on Pinterest for coaches. THIS is how you grow on Pinterest for coaches. THIS is how you get more traffic and grow your impressions and clicks on Pinterest.

So how do you know if you’re joining the right kind of group boards?

Here is what to look for:

  • A decent number of collaborators. If there are only a handful of collaborators, chances are, it’s an ineffective slow board and you won’t gain much from pinning on it. If it is the opposite end of the scale and has a thousand collaborators, it will be far too fast-paced for your pins to get noticed. I aim for between 50 to 150 collaborators unless of course you’re starting your own, in which case just have a little patience and collaborators will come
  • The number of group board followers. The more followers the board has, the better! This gives you a better chance of getting in front of more people.
  • Good SEO. Does the title have relevant keywords in it? Is the description accurate and relevant? Did you find it? Or are they inviting you? If they’ve invited you, this is definitely something to look at.
