Want to know how to uplevel your life? Or perhaps you’re going through something already and you’re looking for the signs that it’s an uplevel.
Perfect, because I’ve got 6 ways on how to uplevel your life along with what to expect during the process of levelling up.
First, let’s explore this trendy word ‘uplevel’ and what it means….
Uplevel Definition:
So, the most popular uplevel definition I found online is: ‘Having greater capabilities’, which is somewhat true, but I believe it goes much deeper than that.
For me, to uplevel means one or all of the following, dependent on the person:
- Deep self-discovery to help you become a better version of yourself
- Letting go of the beliefs that have been holding you back i.e ‘I’m not good enough to do X or Y’
- Minimising, or altogether stopping, self-sabotaging behaviour (this can be a tough one, as a society we’re addicted self-sabotage)
- Making choices that align with the best version of you, no matter how tough those decisions are
- Creating a life you love rather than continuing to live on autopilot
- Reaching a potential that you previously didn’t believe you could reach (but you can!)
The above list may look like a whole load of woo-woo personal development nonsense, but the results of taking these steps to uplevel can completely change the reality you live in.
Trust me, I’ve done it! I first learned how to uplevel your life back in 2019 when I was determined to work through my depression and that first (conscious) uplevel led me to my entrepreneurship and coaching career.
You see, when it comes to learning how to uplevel your life, think of it as playing video games. You get better with each level you play, and when it’s time to move up in levels, well, you level up.
Life is the same. If you have a clear idea about the type of lifestyle that you desire, then it’s never too late to make this your reality by uplevelling.
How to uplevel your life
Self-care & self-discovery
Before you dive into any kind of uplevel plan, start by being kind to yourself. You’ll struggle to get to the next level if you’re struggling to appreciate the one you’re in.
Learn to have a kind voice in your head, be present, focus on the now and perhaps try introducing a gratitude practice.
Set an intention to get to know yourself more and do some activities that can help you get in tunes with yourself, such as meditation, EFT tapping or journaling. Find the activity that works for you.
Visualise / Manifest
Build a vision for this new reality you want to create. Visuals help bring our ideas to life. Once we have a vision, it’s easier to manifest it into our reality, here are some proven methods I’ve tried:
- Building a vision board – enrol in my free vision board course
- Try a visualization meditation
- Try Scripting
- Use the 55×5 method

Intention Setting
Set powerful weekly intentions for yourself, these don’t need to be specific goals, these can be words or feelings you want to align yourself with that your future next-level version of you identifies with.
Values work, which is something I do with most of my clients, can help you to get clearer on that next-level identity. By figuring out what your values are, you’re taking yourself 10 steps closer to that next level.

Goals
Set goals that align with your big vision for yourself. Map out exactly what you want and then break down the goals into manageable steps and habits.
For example, if you’re next level you is someone who runs regular half marathons, then a goal to train for a half marathon would be broken down into chunks (i.e. week one – buy running shoes or run one mile or go for a swim).
New habits might be implemented as part of the goal, in the case of the running goal, it might be daily habits such as a daily protein percentage, water intake or an evening routine.
Habits
Do a review of all the habits and routines you have, good and bad, and reflect on all the above – your vision, your intentions, your goals – review where you’re self-sabotaging, where you’re doing well and what needs to change.
Think about things such as your morning and evening routines. How do you feel when waking up? At the end of the day? At the end of the week?
How healthy do you feel? How much energy do you have?
What about your life brings you joy? What do you dislike in your routine?
What habit has unintentionally become a habit?
Commit to your uplevel
You and only you hold the key to the next level, no one else can unlock that gate for you. So make a commitment to yourself to be disciplined and to hold yourself accountable for your actions.
Set clear boundaries and make sure to honour them. Minimise distractions, AND, don’t beat yourself up if you fall behind, slip up or get a little lost, just bring yourself back to the vision and keep going.
What to expect during an uplevel
Feelings of overwhelm & exhaustion
Implementing new habits, tracking your behaviour, shifting into a new identity – whilst the results can feel amazing, at times the process can be a little overwhelming, this is why step one on my list above is so important – self-care: be super kind to yourself during this process.
An urge to give up/quit
Going back to that computer game analogy – have you ever been stuck on a game, and you’re trying to get to the next level, but you’re drained, exhausted, out of ideas, out of cheat codes and you feel like pulling the plug?
This feeling might occur in life too whilst going through an uplevel.
Much like when I was a child getting stuck playing Mario on my neighbour’s N64 console, once I left the game, slept on it, refuelled myself with snacks and re-entered the animated world with a clearer head, I was able to level up quite quickly.
Again, be kind to yourself, rest, replenish, and take a break.

You lose things
It could be physical clutter, it could be mental clutter, it could even be people or jobs – but whatever isn’t serving you, it’s time to let go of.
This can be the hardest part of an uplevel, but it. is. necessary.
Allow the things to fall away, trust that it’s for the best, and watch that space you’ve cleared out fill up with the all things, people, and moments you desire.
Euphoria
Along with the crazy lows and difficult decisions, come the euphoric waves of joy, happiness and all the high vibes.
As you go deeper into self-discovery and self-awareness and the habits increase and the goals get met, the euphoria can become addictive, and this is why the journey can be so up and down.
Fear
All of the above, rolled into one, yup, that can cause fear. Some of the biggest uplevels of my own have had me feeling like I’m about to vomit. Like that time I was travelling through Heathrow Airport, after quitting my 9-5 to move to Bali with no job or savings; I felt sick with fear, terrified of the unknown that lay ahead of me but…
You have to learn to trust your gut
As I walked through airport security and had 90% convinced myself to turn around and go back, that last little 10% was my gut telling me to keep going and follow my intuition, the same way it had told me to hand in my notice, walk away from everything in the UK and book a one-way ticket to Bali.
Sometimes the scariest and toughest decisions bring about the BEST outcomes!
